Balnarring spruced up for races

04 Nov, 2009 12:00 AM
RACING returns to the Balnarring racecourse on Saturday for the first meeting of the spring season.

After winning the title of Picnic Racing Club of the Year, Balnarring is gearing up for a bumper season. Thanks to good rainfall during winter and spring, the course and picnic areas are in top condition, with the course rated a 'true' racing surface.

There have been improvements to on-course bars and extra picnic tables have been placed in the members' and public areas.

A new children's playground will be ready for the Christmas meeting on December 5.

Bookmakers and the TAB are on-course at all meetings and a variety of food and beverage outlets makes the picturesque course on Coolart Road in Bittern a popular family outing.

Gates open at 10am and the first race is at 1pm.
