THERE were a couple of monster scores in MPCA Sub-District cricket on Saturday, none more so than Seaford Tigers' 8-314 against Dromana. The Tigers won the toss in 30-degree heat and the top order did the job.
Warren Junkeer smacked 12 fours and two sixes on his way to 84, and Glen Corrigan hit 10 fours in his innings of 63.
Chris Milne struck 42 - 26 coming from boundaries - and Craig McIndoe had a licence to hit big in the last 10 overs and helped himself to 40.
Ben Slocombe was the best of the Hoppers' bowlers with 3-74, and David Timmer claimed 2-52.
While the Tigers were hitting a massive score, Tootgarook was struggling to get to three figures. In fact, it fell 16 short, bowled out for 84 against Carrum Downs.
The Downers were on top early, thanks largely to Chamara Perera, who bowled 20 overs and finished with 6-25. Adam Newstead chimed in with two wickets. The Tooters had 20 overs at the opposition late in the day and had them in a spot of bother at 3-20.
Flinders was in cruise control against Pearcedale, scoring 5-276 in 75 overs.
Simon Parrott fell agonisingly close to a century, finishing unbeaten on 98 after hitting 10 fours and three sixes.
Shane Beggs hit 69, Mark Maddock opened with 40 and
Nathan Hunt scored 33 to help Flinders to a match-winning total.
Kaine Smith was the pick of the Pearcedale bowlers with 4-83 from 30 overs.
Rosebud is highly unlikely to get over the line against Skye, bowled out for just 117 in 55 overs. Uma Rattan was superb with the ball for Skye with 3-26, Scott Clark claimed 2-16 and Leigh Smith picked-up 2-39 to completely dominate the Rosebud batting line-up. Peter Doughty was the best of the Buds' bats with 29. Skye is coasting at 2-44.
Tyabb has set Baden Powell 213 for victory. A lot of the Yabbies batsmen got solid starts but failed to go on with it, Rick Gough top-scoring with 42, Chris White getting 34 and Luke Rus opening with 36.
Andrew Norris was the best of the Braves' bowlers with 4-62 from 27 overs, while John Harrison picked-up his third wicket in his 25th over to finish with 3-75.
