PINES will play in MPCA Sub-District cricket next season after finishing on the bottom of the District table at the conclusion of the home and away season.
Pines finished with just one win and a draw for season 2009-10, making it a short-lived appearance in District cricket.
The Piners finishing in bottom place was the only result to come out of the final game of the regular season. All matches were abandoned.
At the conclusion of the final round, Rye finished on top of the District table on 102 points and will play Hastings in the first final this weekend after the Blues finished in fourth place. Second-placed Mt Eliza will tackle third-placed Delacombe Park at Wooralla Drive.
Carrum finished in fifth place, on the same number of points as Hastings, but with an inferior percentage.
On Saturday before the rain stopped play, Rye was on 6-275 against Balnarring.
Corey Harris finished with 93 and Ben Ashworth was unbeaten on 55 and Aaron Vernon was solid for his 43.
Ross Corfield scored a half century for Red Hill and Josh Trevitt 46 against Seaford. Faisal Payenda was the pick of the bowlers for Seaford with 2-31. Nathan Hudgson and Andrew McMannis also claimed two wickets.
At the beginning of the season, Seaford was the hot tip to play finals. It would be disappointed with its finish to the year.
Pines was 8-120 against Hastings, Paul Bradley the top scorer with 58. Timmy Birch was the pick of the bowlers for the Blues with 4-25.
Main Ridge would have been thankful for the rain, bowled out for 110 against Delacombe Park.
Gareth Wyatt claimed 4-27 and Justin Grant 3-24 for Mt Eliza against Carrum, which was bowled out for 121.
Boneo was bowled out for 186 against Langwarrin, Lindsay Campbell claiming 3-15. Damien Wust and Ricky Ramsdale also picked up three wickets.
