A MIDDLE order revival led by Peter Mereszko helped produce a two-wicket victory for Crib Point over Moorooduc on Saturday.
Chasing 196 for victory, Crib Point was in a bit of strife at 4-63 when Mereszko came to the crease.
Henry Dolphin and Luke Herrington, Matt Blake and Ricky Thompson were back in the sheds and it seemed the target was way out of reach.
However, Mereszko (44) and Ben Watson (34) stuck around long enough to get the wheels back on track.
Disaster struck again though, the Magpies losing 3-0 with Rob Wilson claiming two wickets and Michael Heib picking up the other. At 7-128, the Pies again looked gone. However, Brad Davison provided terrific support and along with Brad Watson with 27, was able to steer his side home with a well-earned 29 not out.
Heib finished with four wickets for the Ducs, Wilson claimed two and Neil Barfuss one.
Two Baxter guns combined beautifully on Saturday to help knock over Mt Martha with ease.
Batting first, Baxter set the Reds 217 for victory after Daniel Warwick blasted an unbeaten 89, and Jedd Sutton contributed 37, Dale Irving 28 and Max Blackburn 23. Baxter then bowled out the Reds for 103.
While Warwick was the star with the bat, Adrian Mack tore the opposition apart with the ball, bowling 10 overs, seven of them maidens and finishing with 4-3.
Marc Uccello opened the bowling and claimed 3-22 and Blackburn also snared a couple of wickets.
Mornington set Frankston YCW an achievable 181 for victory, however, once again, the Stonecats struggled to get past 120.
Anthony Gapes top scored for the Dogs with 53, Matt Foon contributed a half century, and Jason Mathers helped himself to 41.
The evergreen Paul Waterhouse was the best of the Stonecats' bowlers with 4-40 from his allotted 10 overs
The Stonecats had a lot of work to do in its 40 overs, but were bowled out in the 38th over.
Matt Lane top scored with 34 and Craig Burch helped out with 24.
The Dogs used four bowlers and all contributed. Matt Foon snared 3-23, Luke Popov 2-36, Adrian Dale 2-22 and Matt Harper 3-26 in his first blow-out for the season.
Heatherhill was unable to defend the 132 it set Long Island in one of the few two-day matches for the round.
While the Hills started well removing the first four batsmen for just 35, Paul Hartle and Scott Phillips got together to score 54 and 62 respectively to win the Islanders the game.
Mark Fisher was outstanding with the ball for the Hills, claiming nine wickets. Brad Maxwell got the last of the day, with Long Island making 168.
Peninsula Old Boys looked to be in some trouble at the end of the first day against Sorrento, scoring just 158.
However, their bowlers stepped up to the plate and stopped the Sorras 29 runs short of victory.
Brad Glenn was outstanding for the Old Boys with 6-61 from 39 overs, and Adam Jones was also impressive with 4-41 from his 27 overs.
Liam O'Connor was the best with the bat for the Sorras with 31, and Nick Davern scored 24.
Somerville picked up its first win for the season on Saturday, rolling Ballam Park.
The Eagles batted first in the one-day game and scored 7-151 from their 40 overs, Ben Delaney opening with 54 and Shane Burt scoring 35.
Nick Gurry was the best of the Knights' bowlers with three wickets.
Vance Donaldson then led the charge for the Eagles with the ball, claiming 3-18 from six overs, and Blair Weller and Delaney picked up two wickets each.
