POLICE arrested a woman following the stabbing death of a man in Tootgarook last Tuesday, Australia Day.

Police were called to a Raymond Street house about 7.15am where they found the 37-year-old man with a stab wound. He died at the scene.

A 26-year-old Tootgarook woman was taken into custody and questioned by police.

Homicide squad detectives travelled from Melbourne and spent several hours at the scene.

The woman was charged with one count of murder and appeared in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
