A CROWD of more than 10,000 is expected to attend the Hot Barbecue Music and Arts Festival at Point Nepean National Park, Portsea, on January 16.
The event is being run by Melbourne-based promoters Future Entertainment, which also produce the Future Music Festival at Flemington racecourse, along with the Summadayze and Summanights festivals in Melbourne and Sydney.
Three stages will be constructed in the Jarman oval area of the park for performances by Australian and international artists including The Presets, Sneaky Sound System, Pendulum and New York-based DJ Grandmaster Flash.
A number of additional acts including performers from the Mornington Peninsula are yet to be confirmed. The event will run from noon to 10pm.
The Hot Barbecue was previously slated to occur at Birrarung Marr on the Yarra River, adjacent to Federation Square, but was merged with Summadayze at the Myer Music Bowl in 2009.
The Point Nepean event could not occur without approval from Parks Victoria, Mornington Peninsula Shire and Victoria Police.
The Portsea Swim Classic is also slated to be held on the same day.
The festival will be serviced by buses running all day from Frankston, with pick-ups and drop-offs at major peninsula towns.
Some parking will be available at Point Nepean.
The site will also house a VIP compound with its own facilities and views of the main stage and Port Phillip.
A food market is also part of the event.
