Messy in Mornington

03 Feb, 2010 11:47 AM
REGULAR beachgoers at Mills Beach in Mornington were greeted with this mess when they arrived at the east end of the beach the day after Australia Day.

The Mornington resident who took this picture did not want to be named but expressed strong disgust. "What a shame," he said.

"It's great that we celebrate and enjoy Australia Day, but it looks like we should spend more time in the upbringing our young generation and teach them basic values.

"If the mess was made by adults, well, perhaps a police presence would be more appropriate."

The rubbish was collected by Mornington Peninsula Shire contractors - our rates at work.

The rubbish was comprehensivally cleaned up at 8.30am by myself and five friends as it has been for the 12 years the party has been running! Absolute lies to say the council cleaned up anything! Quite hard to clean in the dark when some thief steals your generator!

No author written due to the utter lies? We packed and carried around 20 garbage bags up the path early the next morning! Including raking the beach pretty thoroughly and disposing of other peoples parties too! Beach spotless by 9am after the public holiday, get a life

Interesting report, I saw the beach box users cleaning this mess at 9am of the 27th - yes the rubbish was collected by Mornington Peninsula Shire contractors - but from the public rubish bin at the beach's entrance - not the beach as implied.

What a load of rubbish, pardon the pun. The beach was cleaned by by the owners the morning after as previously stated. There were no fights, no damaged property, no people injured, it was just a bunch of Australians having a good time on Australia day. I really do think, as has been previously stated, that some people have too much time on their hands and need to get a life.
