FIRST day at school on Monday was an exciting time for Holly at Eastbourne Primary School and Caitlyn at Our Lady of Fatima, both in Rosebud.
Holly said goodbye to her mother Tanya Greenwood and Caitlyn couldn't wait for lessons to begin.
The duo were among more than 44,000 prep children starting their school days with most receiving a kit from the State Government that included a library bag, water bottle, book voucher, photo frame magnet and Melbourne Zoo pass.
The Government reminded drivers to obey 40kmh speed zones around schools. Roads Minister Tim Pallas said: "Drivers need to take their foot off the accelerator and realise the special zones are there to protect our children."
