Performers at the Summer in the Vines event will also include singer–songwriter Steve Cummings, Elvis and Tom Jones tribute artist Mark Andrew and Balnarring-based soul, blues and roots singer Meg O'Riley.

Proceeds go to disadvantaged children's group OzChild.

Chocolate Cake last performed to a rapt crowd of all ages at Morning Star in August 2008.

Combining slick strings with prancing piano and soaring vocals, the band covered material that has been described as ambush pop, like the proverbial cake with a file inside. Under the rich strings and smooth piano melodies are some of the more potent themes and sentiments in contemporary pop.

The seven-piece band will be likely to play their better-known tunes, including Pentecostal Girl and Under the Floorboards as well as selections from the album Home Improvements, a contrasting mix of orchestral pop songs, exotic instrumentals and Australian stories. The event will cater for couples, with a picnic basket to enjoy in the rose garden, from noon-2pm. Families can enjoy a variety of menu offerings and children can enjoy face painting, a jumping castle, sand art and Silvermist the stilt-walking fairy.
